Since their launch, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have welcomed Bixby, the manufacturer's virtual assistant, which is unfortunately still not available in Spanish. Samsung finally allows its users to deactivate the key dedicated to Bixby. A major release.

Samsung has released an update for its Bixby virtual assistant. It is now possible to mute the launch of the feature when pressing the button dedicated to it (placed on the left edge of the S8 and S8+, as well as on the Note 8). No doubt this information will seem trivial for those who do not use any of these 3 smartphones. For S8, S8+ and Note 8 users, however, this may be good news. To deactivate the Bixby key, you must therefore open the eponymous assistant and accept the update offered to you. Once this is done, you will see the option “Bixby key at the top of the screen” appear. It is checked by default and you just have to uncheck it to stop seeing Bixby. If by chance you want to try the experience again – on the occasion of the arrival of the Spanish version, why not – you will have to go through the management of the home screens and activate Bixby on the panel on the far left.
On the left, Bixby; in the middle, not Bixby; right, re-Bixby.
It must be said that Bixby, launched in March, still only speaks Korean and English. No Spanish to get your teeth into. The voice assistant therefore loses much of its meaning in all markets speaking other languages. Until now, it was impossible to deactivate the launch of Bixby by pressing the dedicated key, causing many involuntary launches. Annoying when you don't use Samsung's assistant.
Some developers have tried to remedy this during the first weeks of marketing of the S8. Some offered to assign the button to another task, while others simply cut off its action. Samsung then updated its assistant to cut short these attempts to muzzle Bixby. The Korean has apparently watered down his wine and seems to realize that many owners of his 2017 smartphones have no interest in it. Maybe one day the manufacturer will allow to use this button for the action of his choice. For the time being, we will have to be content with no longer seeing Bixby launch at all costs.
