Surf anonymously on the Net without the geolocation of the IP address from a computer
You are interested in finding out how to surf anonymously on the Internet without the geolocation of the IP address acting as a PC? Then follow the instructions on what to do that you find below. As anticipated at the beginning of the guide, I will explain how to proceed in all the main web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge e Safari, be on Windows that of MacOS.
Chrome
If you usually surf the net using Chrome and you want to find out how to disable the geographical location in the latter, the first step you need to take, both on Windows and on macOS or Linux, is to start the program, click on the button ⋮ located at the top right and select the item Settings give the menu check if you press.
In the new tab that, at this point, will be shown on the screen, click on the item Advanced that you find by scrolling down and presses on the wording content settings, then click on the item Location e carries his OFF l'interruttore che trovi accanto alla voce Ask before signing in (recommended).
Keep in mind that if you have already granted access to your geographic location to specific Internet sites in the past, they will continue to be able to use it despite the change in settings, unless you remove them from their list.
To do this, press the icon of the dustbin that you find next to each site in the appropriate list visible after having gone to the section Location Chrome settings, as seen together earlier.
Firefox
You have a habit of browsing online using Firefox and would you like to understand how to disable geographic location in this browser? So, regardless of whether you are using Windows, macOS or Linux, first start the program, then go to its control panel by typing about: config in the address bar and pressing the key Submit of your computer keyboard.
On the page that opens, click on the button I accept the risks, type il finish "geo” in the filter bar at the top and double-click on the entry geo.enabled to disable the geo location feature in Mozilla Firefox. To confirm this, in the column Value, in correspondence with the item in question, you will then find the wording indicated false.
Internet Explorer
If you are using a Windows PC and the browser you generally use to surf the net is Internet Explorer (bad! This is an outdated software!), you can disable the geographical location by starting the program first. In the window that opens on the screen, click on the icon with thegear located at the top right or, if you are using one IE version earlier than 9, click on the item Instruments (if you can't see it, right click on the toolbar and check the item Status bar from the menu that opens). Next, select the item Internet options give the menu check if you press.
In the window that will now be shown to you, select the tab Privacy, check the box next to the item Never allow websites to request your location and click on the button first Apply e poi quello OK, to save the settings and close Internet Explorer options. And voila!
If you want, you can also delete sites for which you have already granted permission to access your geographic location. To do this, press the button Delete sites that you always find in the IE settings.
Edge
And as far as it concerns Edge, the browser installed “by default” in Windows 10? How can I disable geo-localization? Let's find out now! I anticipate, however, that it is necessary to intervene on the settings of Windows 10 and not directly on the browser. So, first click on the Start button (I cheer with the pennant Windows) located on the taskbar and pressing the icon Settings (Quella with l 'gear).
In the window that opens, click on the item Privacy, then on the wording Location placed on the left and door up Disabled l'interruttore che trovi accanto alla voce Microsoft Edge list Choose the apps that can use your location. Done!
Please note that websites for which you have already granted permission to locate you will continue to be able to do so unless you delete their "white list". To do this, click on the button Clear that you find at the top of the window displayed, under the heading Clear history on this device.
Safari
Stai using a Mac, surf the Net with Safari and would you like to understand how to disable localization in the latter? So do this: open the browser, click on the item Safari that you find on the menu bar, at the top left, and select the wording Pref Renze.
In the window that opens, select the tab Web Sitesclick sulla voce Location that you find in the column Generali on the left and choose the option Reject give menu to tendin When I visit other websites which is located at the bottom right.
Keep in mind that, even in the case of Safari, if in the past you had allowed one or more sites to access your geographical location, they will continue to be able to exploit it despite the change in settings, unless you remove them from the list of allowed.
To do this, select them from the list visible after clicking on the tab Web Sites on the menu Safari> Preferences browser, choose an option other than the one currently set from the adjacent drop-down menu and click on the button Remove which is at the bottom left.
Surf anonymously on the Net without the geolocation of the IP address from mobile
As I told you at the beginning of the article, it is possible to surf anonymously on the Net without the geolocation of the IP address even from smartphones and tablets. In this case, however, it is necessary to intervene directly on the settings of the mobile platform used - then Android or iOS -, similar to what we saw for Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, and not on the configuration of the reference online navigation app. To find out how to do this, please read on.
Android
A smartphone or tablet is available Android, you can disable the localization by the Internet sites you visit with any web browser installed on the device by adjusting the system settings. To do this, first take your smartphone or tablet, unlock it, go to the screen where there are the icons of all the apps and press on Settings (the icon with thegear).
In the new screen that appears, tap on the item Applications, identify the browser in relation to which you wish to intervene (eg. Chrome) in the list that is shown to you, presses on the item Permissions e carries his OFF l'interruttore che trovi accanto alla dicitura Location. Finally, confirm the choice made by pressing on Deny anyway.
Please note: the steps described above may be slightly different depending on the version of Android you are using and the brand and model of smartphone or tablet in your possession.
iOS
Stai using a iPhone or a iPad and would you like to understand how to disable the localization of the Internet sites you visit? So, to begin with, take your device, unlock it, access the home screen and press the icon of Settings (Quella with l 'gear).
In the screen that is shown to you at this point, presses on the item Privacy, by your complaint Location and locate the name of the app you use to surf the net (eg. Safari) from the list below, then click on it and select the option Mai. Then press on the voice Go back at the top left to ensure that the changes made are applied.
Other solutions
Deactivating the localization by intervening on the browser settings or, in the case of Microsoft Edge and mobile devices, on the settings of the platform in use, is not the only way to prevent the Internet sites you visit from locating you. In case you have never heard of it, the services of VPN (acronym for Virtual Private Network), are tools through which you can both protect your connection and disguise the IP address. Needless to say, they can therefore be useful to avoid being located on the Net. If you want to try this type of tool, below you will find those that in my opinion represent some of the best VPNs around.
- NordVPN - excellent VPN application compatible with smartphones, tablets and computers capable of encrypting connection data and camouflaging the geographical position to overcome censorship and regional blocks. It is very economical and easy to use. More info here.
- Surfshark - another great cheap VPN compatible with all major operating systems and devices. It also allows you to overcome restrictions, blocks, censorship and encrypt connection data to avoid tracing. It is offered at very affordable prices. More info here.
- CyberGhost - it is a long-standing VPN service that is highly rated by users. It allows you to connect to over 1000 servers in numerous countries around the world offering unlimited traffic and bandwidth. It can be used by all the most popular operating systems and you can try it for free for 24 hours, after which you have to pay. The basic rate is d 12.99 euro / month. More info here.
- VyprVPN - great VPN in terms of speed and performance. It allows you to select the server to connect to but is also able to choose the fastest one in a completely automatic way. It is available for all popular platforms and is free to try for three days. After that, you have to pay. The cost of the basic plan is $ 5 / month.
- tunnel Bear - good VPN service, easy to use and configure and usable on all popular OS. It allows you to choose the server to connect to and to surf for free up to 500 MB per month. To get around this limitation, you need to subscribe to one of the paid plans. The basic one costs $ 9,99 / month.

proxy
As an alternative to VPN services, still remaining on the subject, I suggest you evaluate the use of a proxy. To put it in very small terms, in case you were not aware of them, proxies are remote computers that interpose themselves between the device and the sites to be visited, thus containing the user to disguise his real geographical position and the relative IP address. Below I point out some services of the category, in my opinion very interesting.
- Hide.me - famous Web proxy at no cost (basic) that allows you to choose the reference server between three different countries. It also provides users with extra options to block cookies, remove scripts, etc.
- FilterBypass - another free service belonging to the category that has convenient buttons for quick access to services such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
- Site proxy - online proxy service which is basic free (but possibly offers even more performing paid solutions) that allows you to disguise your IP with a foreign one, choosing between European or US servers.
