Even if it is not a completely immediate procedure, put an app on the Windows 10 desktop it is much simpler than it may seem.
If the app icon you want to add to the desktop is already present in the Start menu, then the game is quickly done: you simply have to take the icon in question with the mouse, drag it and drop it on an empty spot on the desktop.

To begin with, if the program icon is already present in the menu Home or in the folder Applications Windows (I showed you how to access it in the previous chapter of this guide), locate it and drag it to the desktop using the mouse.
Alternatively, you can get a completely identical result using the Windows shortcut wizard: first, right-click on an empty spot on the desktop and choose the items New e connection give the menu answer.

When this happens, place the mouse cursor on the nome of the site you just opened (usually, it appears to the left of the address bar) and drag it directly to the desktop.
If you use Google Chrome, you can achieve the same result thanks to a special integrated function: to use it, visit the website of your interest, click on the button (⋮) at the top right and select the items Other tools e Create shortcut ... from the menu that is proposed to you. To finish creating the link, assign a name to the icon you are about to create and press the button Crea.
Finally, you can achieve the same result using, once again, the wizard for creating a shortcut in Windows: right-click on an empty spot on the desktop, select the items New> Link from the menu that appears on the screen, paste theWebsite URL in the text box residing in the new window, click on the button NEXT and, after indicating the name to be assigned to the icon, the last connection is created, by pressing the button end.
How to put an app in the Windows 10 Start menu
If your need is to add quick links to apps, programs and websites to the Start menu Windows 10, know that you can proceed in several different ways, which lead to practically the same result.
- Using the icons created on the desktop - after creating the icon of your interest on the desktop using one of the methods that I have previously reported, right-click on it and choose the item Pin to Start give the menu answer.
- Using the icons in the Applications folder - press the key combination Win+R, type the command explorer shell: AppsFolder and press the button Submit keyboard. Identify, in the window that is proposed, the icon of your interest, right click on it and choose the item Pin to Start.
By doing so, the icons of your interest will be added to the part of the Start menu that contains the “tiles” relating to the most used programs. If you wish, you can reposition the icons to your liking by simply dragging them with the mouse.
If, on the other hand, you intend to add links to items of interest to the section of the Start menu where the icons reside installed programs (the one on the left, containing “smaller” folders and links), you must, on the other hand, intervene on the Windows folder that physically contains the latter.
To do this, press the key combination Win + R on the PC keyboard and type, in the window of Run... that appears on the screen, the command shell: Start Menu, then press the key Submit, to open the folder that contains the Start menu items.
At this point, you can create the link of your interest using the Windows wizard: right click on an empty spot in the previously opened window, select the items New> Link from the contextual menu that is proposed to you and add the link to the program or website you want, following the steps I have already described to you previously.
