Preliminary information
Before going into the details of this guide and explain yourself how to activate Kena's 4G, it is necessary to make a necessary premise. In fact, you should know that TIM's low-cost virtual operator has made 4G navigation (up to 30 Mbps) available to its customers starting from 31 October 2018.
Those who were already Kena Mobile customers before October 31, can activate 4G following different procedures depending on the date of purchase of the SIM and the offer activated.
- SIMs activated before October 9, 2018: customers who entered Kena Mobile before 9 October, can request the activation of 4G free of charge by following the instructions provided in the next paragraphs.
- SIM activated from 9 October 2018: those who bought a SIM after October 9 and have activated a 3G offer, to have the 4G of Kena Mobile must necessarily make a change of offer. If so, you may find my guide dedicated to Kena Mobile offerings useful.
Kena Mobile customers who, on the other hand, have purchased and activated a new SIM after October 31, 2018, in the event of adequate signal coverage, are automatically enabled for navigation at the maximum possible speed, provided they have correctly configured their smartphone ( I'll tell you about this in later chapters of the guide).
Request 4G Kena activation
All you need to do to request the activation of Kena's 4G, is to connect to the official website of the telephone operator, enter your telephone number in the appropriate field and follow the instructions shown on the screen.
To proceed, therefore, connected to the Kena Mobile website, click on the option Activate 4G at the bottom of the page and, in the new screen displayed, click on the button Activate 4G. Now, enter your phone number in the field Telephone and press pulsating Proceed, then put the check mark next to the option I declare that I have read the text of the 4G activation privacy information and click the button again Proceed.
Within a few moments you will receive an SMS containing a OTP code of 4 digits to verify your identity: enter it in the appropriate field and press the button Proceed, to request activation of 4G on your Kena Mobile SIM.
Alternatively, you can request the activation of Kena's 4G by calling customer service at the number 181, active from Monday to Sunday from 08.00 to 20.00. The call is free for Kena Mobile and TIM landline customers.
Then take your smartphone, open the dialer (the app you use to make calls), invoke the numeric keypad, dial the number 181 and start the call by pressing the appropriate button (usually the icon of the green handset).
After listening to the welcome message, press the key 1 to indicate that you are already a Kena Mobile customer, enter yours telephone number followed by the key # and firstly your pulse 1 to confirm the correctness of the number just entered. Now, all you have to do is follow the instructions of the registered voice carefully and press the button for activating 4G on your SIM.
Regardless of the activation procedure you choose, you must know that, if everything goes well, the activation of 4G on your Kena Mobile SIM will take place within a few hours of the request (usually activation is immediate).
Activate 4G Kena on Android
After requesting the activation of Kena's 4G, if you have not already done so, you must also activate 4G in the settings of your smartphone.
So if you have a device Android, access Settings (by tapping on the icon of the rotella d'ingranaggio present on the home screen or in the drawer) and choose the option Wireless and ret from the screen that opens. Next, tap on the item Mobile network and select the option APN, then press on Profile related to Kena Mobile and verify that in the field APN the facing is present web.kenamobile.com.
If, on the other hand, you have not yet carried out the configuration of your Kena Mobile SIM, on the screen APN tap on the icon of three dots located at the top right, choose the option New APN from the menu that appears, type Kenamobile Web in the field Your name, insert web.kenamobile.com in the field APN and tap the ✓ button (located at the top right) to save the data just entered. Finally, access the section again Mobile network and activate the data connection by moving the lever next to the item Mobile data da OFF a ON, then click on the option Preferred network type and check the option next to the option 4G, in order to be sure that your smartphone connects to the data network at the maximum possible speed when you are in an area reached by the 4G signal.
Activate 4G Kena on iPhone
activate 4G Kena on iPhone, take your "iPhone by", tap on the icon of rotella d'ingranaggio present on the home screen to access the Settings iOS and tap on the item Mobile phone.
Adesso, select the option Cellular data network (if you have an older iPhone, tap on the items Cellular data options e Cellular data network) and compare the data shown in the new screen displayed with the parameters shown below.

Adesso, fai tap sull'opzione Mobile phone at the top left to return to the previous screen, press on the item Cellular data options, select the option Data and voice (or alone Voice) and, if you have not already done so, put the check mark next to the item 4G (only available on iPhone 5 and later).
